Gruppo Ingegneria Torino Srl supports and contributes as Partner to the celebratory event for the World Water Day 2017 (UN Resolution 47/193) having as subject “The flood management system in the Po river basin in the light of the flood event of 22-25 November 2016” at the Auditorium of the Metropolitan City, Corso Inghilterra 7 – TURIN, 22 March 2017, 8.30 am – 6.00 pm.
In the Po river basin, among the various hydraulic measures adopted for the containment of the degree of risk to which the territories crossed by the watercourses are subject, the integrated system for flood management stands out, which the A.I.Po (Interregional Agency of the Po River), the Regions, the relative Environmental Protection Agencies and the Civil Protection structures have been equipped with, in order to locally reduce, in case of an event, the flood risk up to the value corresponding to the admissible residual risk. The flood event of 22-25 November 2016 allowed to test the degree of hydraulic arrangement of the hydrographic network and to verify both the degree of hydraulic protection of the territory achieved and the flood management system for risk reduction as required by the Floods Directive 2007/60/EC. The criticalities that have emerged, the strength points and the possible improvement measures of the current system of flood defence and risk management in the municipal territories, are the issues that will be addressed both through the reports of qualified experts and in the Round Table. The exchange of views between the various stakeholders is crucial for a constructive debate on these complex issues. This way of operating is in the spirit of the statutory aims of the AII: the diffusion of hydrotechnical culture through a continuous osmosis both among the experts belonging to the technical and scientific world and with those who for different interests follow these issues.
